Staff Physician

POSITION TITLE: STAFF PHYSICIAN

DEPARTMENT: Clinic Services

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Associate Medical Director, Medical Director

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Staff Clinicians

FLSA STATUS: Exempt/Salaried

PERSONAL HEALTH INFORMATION (PHI) ACCESS LEVEL: Unrestricted access to PHI for patient treatment purposes.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Primary_Duties*

provides direct medical management of Planned Parenthood patients in a community clinic setting and in a
protocol based practice;

performs medical examinations on male, female and pediatric patients requesting services, providing assessment and treatment of primary care problems;

provides comprehensive reproductive health care, including prenatal/postnatal health care;

-provides hospital care for PPMM patients when appropriate/required;

acts as medical supervisor and consultant to staff mid-level clinicians both on site and by telephone;

-takes an active role in quality assurance and outcome analysis;

-maintains telephone/pager availability for clinicians/clinic managers during clinic hours and maintains
telephone/pager availability for consultation with clinicians nights and weekends when on call;

-serves on after hours telephone call rotation;

-provides liaison with outside medical providers, healthcare agencies and the community.

Secondary_Duties*

Works with/supervises volunteers/interns as applicable.

-perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-current State medical licensure and DEA certification;

Board Certification or board eligibility in Family Practice, Pediatrics, or General Internal Medicine;

experience in delivering prenatal care and pre/post abortion care;

-current (or willingness to obtain) active staff membership at one or more local hospitals;

current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification;

-Valid State drivers license and willingness to drive to and work at widely dispersed PPMM clinics if required.

REQUIREMENTS:

-Ability to converse in Spanish desirable;

Willingness and ability to learn new skills appropriate to PPMM clinical duties;

-Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and lift at least 25 pounds;
