Disaster Specialist - AmeriCorps*VISTA position

DISASTER SPECIALIST
AmeriCorps*VISTA Member

Role:

AmeriCorps*VISTA member will interact with community leaders in order to develop a comprehensive volunteer management plan to assist with the increase in call volume during times of disaster.

Responsibilities:

· Assist with the development of a disaster and volunteer management plan for United Way of Fresno County.
· Assist with training and management of the 2-1-1 volunteer program.
· Develop and implement plan to identify resources available to the Fresno County population in a disaster.
· Assist with building surge capacity of 2-1-1.
· Communicate to local leaders and the public how 2-1-1 can serve in a time of disaster.
· Assist with Fresno-Madera Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (FMVOAD).
· Attend disaster related meetings, events and trainings.
· Collect data on service delivery.
· Document all procedures.
· Provide administrative and other support for 2-1-1 team members.
· Personally endorse the purposes and programs of United Way and answer questions when appropriate.
· Demonstrate a positive attitude and initiative as an enthusiastic team member.

Required Qualifications:

Resource Development Assistant

Reports to: Director of Marketing & Resource Development

Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week) – actual hours of work will be flexible based upon need

Summary: Demonstrate Christ-like behavior and attitude in all duties and responsibilities. Provide administrative support to the Marketing and Resource Development Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Donor data entry, including donations and other donor information.
  2. Produce donor thank you letters and Memorial/Honorarium cards.
  3. Assist with the coordination, scheduling and preparation for special activities such as fund raisers, Mission Partner luncheons, Resource Development meetings, and other donor related events.
  4. Schedule appointments for Resource Development, including staff, volunteers, Board members, etc. with donors and other interested parties.
  5. Make reminder calls for Resource Development related functions and meetings.
  6. Assist in the development and coordination of marketing and training materials.
  7. Assist with donor-related activity reports.

Volunteer Coordinator - Community Food Bank

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assist in developing a broad base of community volunteers, who actively support the Community Food Bank’s mission of creating a hunger free Central Valley.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, develop, evaluate and promote a volunteer utilization program, based on proven best practices, that effectively serves the agency’s needs and strategic planning priorities.
  • Work with key staff to ensure that Community Food Bank is a volunteer site of choice in the community.
  • Work with key staff to develop volunteers into donors as appropriate.
  • Cultivate, recruit, place, retain, schedule, track and recognize a diverse pool of active volunteers from the community including but not limited to individuals, faith-based groups, civic groups, academic interns and governmental agency referrals, for short-term and on-going activities.
  • Develop and maintain a volunteer database, maintain related information and paperwork (e.g. time and sign-in sheets) and submit reports as assigned.
  • Assist the Agency Relations Coordinator to help partner agencies to develop and implement effective volunteer management programs
  • Become knowledgeable in volunteer management best practices and maintain awareness relative to the field at the regional, state and national level.
  • Represent agency in the community (e.g. give presentations and serve on committees) as assigned.
  • Assist in creation of materials related to the volunteer management program.
  • Assist with other agency departments and activities as needed (e.g. events).
  • Performs other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, plus 1 to 2 years of work experience in volunteer coordination or related non-profit work.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective leadership skills and ability to work and interact well with individuals (staff and volunteers) from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Skilled at organizing information and materials effectively.
  • Ability to generate enthusiasm and interest from others for working on food bank programs.

    Development Assistant - The Fresno Philharmonic

    Duties and Responsibilities
    The Development Assistant reports to the Development Director, providing essential assistance in attaining the financial goals of the Development Department at the Fresno Philharmonic.

    The Development Assistant will:

    • Oversee data entry, donor acknowledgment, and accurate database records
    • Oversee compilation of donor and sponsor lists for Program Books

    • Administer, collect and assess program evaluations
    • Generate weekly report of activities
    • Assist with recruitment and retention of students at all sites
    • Schedule speakers for events and programs
    • Obtain and coordinate transportation for students to events
    • Maintain master program calendar
    • Assist with fundraising activities
    • Provide information on quarterly basis for Encourage Tomorrow Newsletter and for school sites
    • Assist with the development and coordination of the Student Advisory Committee, Student Alumni Association and the Parent Advisory Committee
    • Serve as primary representative of EnTo at school sites.  Participate in school site meetings and other events as appropriate.
    • Assist with coordination of tutoring program
    • Collect necessary documentation for programs. 

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Effective communicator, highly organized, detail-oriented and responsible
    • Experience with tutoring program
    • Work effectively with people from all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
    • Two years of increasingly responsible experience as a program coordinator, preferably in a non-profit organization and/or school system
    • Current valid Calif. Drivers License & provide proof of liability insurance coverage
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including mail merge (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher)
    • Spanish speaking preferred
    • Ability to work independently with minimal direction/self-starter
    • Must complete and pass pre-employment checks, including fingerprinting
    • Ability work some nights and weekends

    Director of Development

    The Fresno Philharmonic seeks a Director of Development (DOD) to be part of a senior management team responsible for guiding the orchestra in pursuit of organizational goals. The DOD designs and implements a comprehensive fundraising program to achieve both short-term and long-term objectives for annual support, major gifts, endowment, planned giving, and special projects. The DOD will report directly to the orchestra’s Executive Director, and work closely with Board members, including the development committee, in achieving contributed income goals, presently about $1 million each year for the Annual Fund.
